Work Experience
Lincolnshire Police – ICT Developer (04/01/09-Present)
I am responsible for developing and supporting a system that allows the organisation to integrate its business systems together to ensure that it meets the requirements set by the Management of Police Information. The system is written in Microsoft.NET and integrates over 25 systems on various platforms e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET, Classic ASP, Java etc. The purpose of the system is to provide one interface for data cleansing and also the review and disposal of information.
Newark and Sherwood Homes – Systems and Data Technician (12/08-01/09)
I was responsible for providing an IT Support service to users across the organisation. I was also part of a project team using the PRINCE2 methodology to implement a new integrated housing management system. I also developed a new website for the company using PHP5, Apache Web Server, MySQL and Joomla. The new website went live on 01/10/2009.
Acis Group Ltd (07/08-12/08) – IT Systems Manager
Acis Group is a not for profit social landlord that employs about one hundred and fifty IT users and provides housing services to people in the West Lindsey area (Gainsborough). The company has a Windows 2003 domain and is a thin client environment i.e. Windows CE is flashed locally and when a user logs in they are supplied a Published Desktop from Citrix Metaframe Server. I have gained experience setting up Database Maintenance tasks in Microsoft SQL Server 2003. I had experience supporting a Solaris server.
Order of St John’s Care Trust – Support Programmer
The OSJCT domain includes the WAN and ninety four Care Homes connecting to the head office to use Citrix applications. The majority of the support is telephone based.
Moy Park Padleys – IT Support Technician
The Moy Park domain includes the WAN and four LAN’s. Each of the LAN’s also has a smaller site connected with a broadband link (there are eight sites in total). This infrastructure supports over 200 client PC’s, which run Windows XP and Windows 2000 with software applications installed such as MS Office, AS400.
North Kesteven District Council – Undergraduate Developer
I was fortunate to be selected to participate in the STEP scheme. STEP is an organisation that attempts to find selected undergraduates project related work experience over the Summer period. My post involved developing an Information Directory for older people and their advocates living in Lincolnshire. This was a six week placement and the outcome was a Microsoft Access database. However, the project was extended and completed as my final year project whilst at University, for which I achieved an upper 2(I). The project was a three tier web applications (I decided not to use Enterprise Beans on this occasions although I have had experience).
