The solution was a web based information directory for older people and their advocates living in Lincolnshire. An investigation of the user requirements was conducted over a period of six weeks using a variety of fact finding techniques e.g. interviewing potential users and sending out questionnaires; the outcome of this process was a prototype developed in Microsoft Access.

The final soluton (web based) allows older people and their advocates to search for service providers accross Lincolnshire by service and location. For example,an older person could search for contact details of organisations that provide arthritis care to people in Gainsborough.

A few screen shots of the web based solution can be found here: figure one shows the introduction page and figure two shows the results page for a user that has chosen to search for ‘Mental Health’ services in Lincoln.  The website was designed to accomodate the needs of visually impaired people and hence a basic design and colour scheme was used:
